About the Awards
Each year, the Schools Plus Teaching Awards shine a light on exceptional teachers whose commitment, creativity and leadership are transforming learning outcomes for young people in Australia’s most disadvantaged communities. These awards recognise educators who go beyond the curriculum to remove barriers to learning, strengthen student wellbeing and create environments where every child can thrive.

The impact of exceptional teachers reaches far beyond the classroom. In communities facing disadvantage, teachers are often the most consistent source of stability, belief and opportunity in a young person’s life.
By acknowledging their work, the Schools Plus Teaching Awards highlight the critical role educators play in breaking cycles of disadvantage through education.
The awards also elevate powerful stories of what is possible when talent, determination and deep care for students intersect.
They provide a national platform to share innovative practice, inspire peers across the profession and build public understanding of the challenges and possibilities within disadvantaged school communities.
