Expanding career pathways – with a trip to Canberra 2018

Norseman District High School, WA

We are a District High School in the small town of Norseman, 721km east of Perth and 721km west of Border Village on the SA/WA boarder.  Being in a small country community it is essential we provide our students with life-long learning experiences.

This August we're taking our first group of 20 high school students on an adventure to Canberra and its surrounds to open their minds to the infinite possibilities and career pathways.  We then plan to make this an ongoing 4 yearly program so that every high school student at NDHS has this opportunity.

Our itinerary sees students visiting and experiencing national iconic places and venues to deepening students’ knowledge and understanding of both Australian history while also building a greater appreciation for the life we are able to live today.   Being  away students will also  be challenged to work outside their comfort zones whilst building teamwork skills, resilience and developing lifelong friendships.

For many students the trip will be their first time on a plane, first time going interstate and the first time that anyone in their family has experienced snow!

Our school community has already raised over $2,800 to help make the trip affordable and accessible for all students but they can't do it all.

Please help us give our 20 high school students of Norseman this opportunity to  see Australia, dream big and be the leaders of tomorrow with a trip to Canberra this August.
