Lisa Paul


Lisa was the Secretary of several federal government departments between 2004 and February 2016. She was first appointed by PM Howard and reappointed by PMs Rudd, Gillard, Abbott and Turnbull.

In 2011, Lisa was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to public sector leadership and received the Australian Chartered Accountants’ Federal Government Leader of the Year award.  In 2003, she was awarded a Public Service Medal for leading the Australian Government’s domestic response to the Bali bombings.

She holds positions on many boards, including chairing headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, chairing the Audit Committee of the Australian Academy of Science and being on the boards of Social Ventures Australia, the Future Battery Industry Cooperative Research Centre and the government’s Naval Shipbuilding Advisory Board.
